Before we became grandparents, we were somebody else's children and grandchildren first. What values did your grandparents pass on to you that you are trying to pass on to your own grandchildren?

My grandmother watched me while my parents (dairy farmers) were busy working the fields, barns, and taking care of the animals all day. I treasured my time with her, and she became a wonderful role model for me. One of the greatests gifts she taught me was patience, and never to pass judgement on somebody unless you've 'walked a mile in their shoes.' She taught fairness! She had strong values, and I appreciate to this day what she taught me.

So, what did your grandmother/grandfather teach you that remains to this day?
